Located in Melbourne, Florida, P. Kent LeBlanc has been trying and defending criminal law cases for 33 years. Graduating from the University of Florida in 1974 Kent immediately attended Stetson Law School where he graduated in 1977. By 1979 he started his first job as an Assistant State Attorney in Orange County, Florida where he began doing misdemeanor cases including DUI cases. At his position there he handled hundreds of misdemeanor and DUI cases and was quickly promoted to felony cases within one year. Throughout 1980 Kent handled many different types of felony cases. In 1981 Kent moved to Brevard County where he became an Assistant State Attorney for that county from 1981 through 1982. Here in Brevard County Florida he continued to handle all sorts of felony cases including murder cases.
In 1983 Kent decided to go into private practice as a defense attorney in the Brevard County area. At this time he defended many different types of criminal cases which included DUI’s, juvenile, misdemeanor and felony cases. He also did some civil cases during this time.
In 1985 Kent was asked to come back to the Brevard County Florida State’s Attorney’s Office where he became the Misdemeanor and DUI Division Chief. He held this position from 1985 through 1992. During this period Kent supervised over 100 state appointed attorneys and all other employees. He also handled thousands of misdemeanor cases and DUI cases. While he was the Misdemeanor and DUI Division Chief he taught other prosecutors at various schools around the state of Florida. He also led seminars in Orlando, Florida in reference to all sorts of DUI information where assistant state attorneys from all around Florida would come to learn how to prosecute these types of cases.
After 1992, Kent returned to private practice where he has been specifically dealing with criminal law cases. He has handled hundreds of juvenile, misdemeanor, DUI and felony defense cases. He has defended clients in Brevard County Florida and many other counties throughout the state since 1992. Because of Kent’s specific training as a Misdemeanor and DUI division Chief he has represented people throughout the state of Florida in all sorts of driving under the influence and formal review hearings. Kent is an experienced criminal defense trial lawyer that has worked both sides of the system for the past 33 years.
